Girl Scouts of Hawaii 2008 Woman of Distinction Dinner - December 10, 2008
The annual Girl Scouts of Hawaii dinner honors "Women of Distinction." Two of this year's honorees were JLH Sustainers: Mary Worrall, president of Mary Worrall Associates, Sotheby's International Realty, and committed community volunteer; and Beadie Kanahele Dawson, CEO & General Counsel of Dawson Group, Inc., past Deputy Attorney General for the State of Hawaii, and dedicated public servant.
HerStory - Sheraton Waikiki Hotel - November 7, 2008

Kids in the Kitchen - Boys & Girls Club of Honolulu - March 14, 2008
Kids in the Kitchen supported “A Walk Through the Food Pyramid” at the Boys and Girls Club. The event serviced close to 80 kids who left with a basic understanding of the food groups, the ability to create a healthy snack, the ability to identify foods associated with these food groups and learned the primary health function supported by these food groups.
JLH Legislative Breakfast - Pacific Club - February 14, 2008
JLH leadership invited elected officials to a breakfast reception to describe our membership, partner agencies, AJLI resources, the past impacts we've made in the community, and our current projects.
Kids in the Kitchen - Hawaiian Health Festival at Bishop Museum - March 9, 2008
Kids in the Kitchen supported the First Native Hawaiian Health Festival, an event combining a 20th anniversary celebration of the Native Hawaiian Healthcare Act and Mino'aka (smile)! Oral Health screening. Kids in the Kitchen, along with the Baby Hui and community art educator Hinano Campton, facilitated games, provided health and nutrition information, and coordinated arts and crafts for island keiki in attendance.

JLH Holiday Party - Berg Hale - December 1, 2007
Actives, Sustainers, and their guests got together to celebrate an Island Style Christmas at the home of Carole Berg. Sharing an assortment of wine, enjoying delicious pupus prepared by Carole, exchanging fun gifts, and catching glimpses of the UH Warrior game on TV, everyone had a wonderful time -- even in the rain!

General Membership Meeting - Wai'oli Tea Room - November 14, 2007
An inspiring evening with a book signing by member, Marcie Herring and special guest speakers Alice Guild, a sustaining member and past JLH President that recently received an award from President Bush for volunteer service, and William Bowers, a 7th grade Iolani student who was inspired by JLH to develop a community service project to promote literacy.
Kids in the Kitchen - Kahala Mall Keiki Trick-or-Treat Parade - October 31, 2007
JLH Kids in the Kitchen volunteers with help from UH dietician and Kapolei High School students distributed treat bags to over 1000 children and shared Kids in the Kitchen information pamphlets with their parents at the Kahala Mall Keiki Trick-or-Treat Parade on Halloween Night. The treat bags included toothbrushes, floss, color tablets to help with better brushing, and bat blinkies.
Impact Honolulu - HUGS Respite Night - October 12, 2007
JLH volunteers organized and staffed a respite night at HUGS. Parents and guardians were given a night off to take care of personal business or just relax and rejuvenate while their children received special Pirate Academy training in balloon sword making, walking the plank, digging for treasure, and coconut bowling.
Kids in the Kitchen - Toddler Time at Kahala Mall - October 10, 2007
Kids in the Kitchen hosted one of the Toddler Time events regularly held at Kahala Mall on Wednesday mornings. Approximately 40 toddlers together with their families enjoyed a healthy snack, smart eating tips, and fun activities.
Sustainer Special Art Tour - October 7, 2007
Sustainers and their guests were given a unique opportunity to socialize at the home of Cherye and Jim Pierce while viewing spectacular photographs from their collection, some of which have been exhibited at the New Orleans Museum of Art, the Monterey Museum of Art, and our own Honolulu Academy of Arts.

Provisional Project - Story Time at Kuhio Park Terrace - August 25, 2007
These are pictures from one of two Story Time sessions coordinated and staffed by our Summer Provisional Class, Members read books to the children, planned a craft activity, and distributed snacks. They also assembled and donated new bookshelves to each of the facilities.

JLH volunteers organized a "progressive plate lunch" with the Boys & Girls Club of Honolulu and students from Kapolei High School. Local children and their parents were invited to visit different stations to learn about healthy alternatives to the popular plate lunch. The games and goodie bags helped make this a both delicious and fun nutrition lesson.

Provisional Project - Kids in the Kitchen - March 9, 2007
The 2007 Provisional Class hosted a Mardi Gras themed Kids in the Kitchen event at the Susannah Wesley Center for area residents and participants from the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Participants were able to sample healthy food choices and create Mardi Gras crafts as well as have their photos taken.

Story Time with Hawaii Literacy and PACT 2004-2005
A provisional class project for the 2004-2005 League year is a kids program, Story Time, conducted at the library of a local housing project in partnership with Hawaii Literacy and Parents and Children Together (PACT). Provisional members plan a morning of reading, crafts, and snacks for children aged three to twelve.

Afternoon Tea for Provisional and 1st Year Active Members - January 30, 2005
Hosted by the Placement Committee. Attendees were able to enjoy hibiscus, lilikoi or macadamia nut flavored tea while relaxing and chatting with their fellow League Members at a member's home along Maunalua Bay.
Provisional Training Class - November 2004
As part of the provisional training curriculum, provisional members learn about fundraising strategies. Through a hands-on activity members devised a one-minute commercial to advertise JLH's annual Gifts that Give fundraiser. The creativity was amazing!
